To use the Lie-Nielsen honing guide, you set the blade/chisel a certain distance away from the edge of the honing guide to sharpen at a certain angle. Typically woodworkers will make a stop block board that has all of the different angles(7 angles total) attached which makes for quick work. This template helps you quickly place the stops on your board so that you can attach them with whatever method you want (glue or screws) and get back to work. This template has a position for 7 angles: 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 degrees.
Take a peek at the picture above to get an idea of what it looks like and how it works. The template is made to use stops that are 1.5″ wide and actually has a little extra space to allow you to evenly space the stops.
The template is made out of 1/4″ baltic birch plywood. Please allow 3-5 days as these are made to order.
