Heck, I’m a woodworker, why not just use a piece of scrap wood for the shim instead of buying one? Well, because this thing looks awesome and ups your sharpening game! OK, well maybe not, but it sure does look good on your sharpening station!
This 1/8″ brass shim is used to offset your sharpening angle while using the Lie-Nielsen honing guide. Use the 1/8″ shim to increase the angle at any stop by approximately 2 degrees up to and including the 35 degree stop.
Note: The stop block distance shorten as the sharpening angles increase, and using the shim with angles above 35 degrees will increase the bevel beyond 2 degrees. For best results, use the shim with the stops 35 degrees and below.
The brass shim features a hole at the top to allow you to attach a string for storing purposes. It’s 1″ wide, 1.5″ long and 1/8″ thick.
